We get asked about this a lot. To head off all speculation, YES!, there is a room in Shoreline 106’s living quarters that has a large number of painted dolls. Our cabin rentals includes an evening dinner in our home. You will see it during the night's traditional tour.
The dolls were discovered during the renovation. In the southwest side of our wine cellar was a small cache which contained boxes and boxes of these dolls.
We had to toss many that weren’t preserved as well or had gotten moldy. The rest were cleaned up, the clothes exchanged for newer ones.
We get asked how can we live with a room like this. Well, we’re naturally skeptical of supersitions. But we’re also aware of some the area’s history. They are just dolls, right?
Somehow it doesn’t seem right to remove them. And, no, they are not for sale.
Whose were they originally? No clue. Many of the crew building the Shoreline series of lighthouses had small children with them. If these dolls belonged to one of the, we don't have record of it.
Besides, Void the cat isn’t bothered by them, so why should we?
